The purpose of the SRCHA is to perpetuate traditional methods of training reined cow horses; to encourage riders to continue the ways of the vaquero; to stimulate interest in the training, owning, breeding, and /or exhibition of reined cow horses; to sponsor reined cow horse exhibits and events; to promote the active participation of all members in reined cow horse activities; to use and encourage standard rules for holding and judging contests of the reined cow horse.
The SRCHA is the fastest growing affiliate of the National Reined Cow Horse Association over 300 members. We are a non profit organization dedicated to showcasing the amazing athletic abilities of the reined cow horse. The association is open to ALL breeds of horses. While headquartered in the “heart of horse country,” our membership is spread across many states and includes the nation’s top horseman and breeders as well as the grass roots participants.
SRCHA shows offer a wide variety of classes for all levels of horses and riders. Each class consists of reined work and cow work. Limited classes “box” a cow on the end of the arena only. All other classes box and “Go Down The Fence!”
Each year the SRCHA holds 9-10 shows a year where riders compete in fourteen classes for trophies, sterling silver buckles, trophy tack, vests and coats, as well as many other awards and ADDED MONEY. These events are NRCHA / SRCHA / AQHA approved shows, enabling the exhibitor to obtain points to qualify for Regional, National, and World Championship titles.
In addition, the SRCHA hosts cow horse clinics and seminars, Limited Aged Event Futurities and Derbies, and Bridle Spectacular Competition.
